HOW to Become an M-Pesa Agent, Criteria for Becoming an M-Pesa Agent
An M-Pesa agent is usually a Vodacom merchant , who operates one or more stores within Tanzanian borders to serve M-Pesa customers.
This could be individuals, businesses, companies, or other retailers with a large distribution network such as banks, petrol stations/supermarkets, etc.
The main functions of M-Pesa Agents are to receive deposits from customers and provide cash (withdrawals) to customers.
Agents also assist customers with using M-Pesa services such as purchasing airtime, packages and new customer registrations.
Agents will benefit by receiving commissions and bonuses for the services they provide to customers.
HOW TO BECOME AN M-PESA AGENT
To become an M-Pesa Agent, a customer must have approved KYC information to submit for the Application.
A New Agent to be established as a Sole Proprietor or Individual, will be required to have the following documents;
- Valid Business License (Required)
- Valid TIN Certificate (Required)
- National Identity Card (NIDA)
A New Agency to be established as a Business will be required to provide the following documents;
- Valid Business License (Required) Brela Certificate (Required)
- Valid TIN Certificate (Required)
- National Identity Card (NIDA)
A New Agency to be incorporated as a Limited Company will be required to have the following documents;
- Brela Certificate Registration Certificate
- Valid Business License
- Valid TIN Certificate Memarts
- Home page and shareholders list page Identification of Shareholders with 5% of shares and above
