KNOWLEDGE About the National Army Production Organization (SUMAJKT)
The National Army Production Corporation (SUMAJKT) is an economic branch that deals with commercial production of assets, to help reduce costs for the government in running the JKT.
SUMAJKT was established on July 1, 1981 by the Act on the Establishment of Commercial Organizations in Public Institutions (Act no.23 of 1974 amended in 2002).
The organization was founded based on the idea of the Father of the Nation , Mwalimu Nyerere, while he was President of the United Republic of Tanzania, where he gave the idea when he visited the JKT camp, Ruvu to see firsthand the training, youth development and wealth creation activities.
The organization operates through twenty (20) subsidiaries in parallel with four (4) official projects in the following sectors;
- Construction And Consulting
- Industry
- Agriculture, Fishing and Animal
- Husbandry Business and Services
- Education
These sectors operate in a manner that enables the Organization to be self-sustaining and productive in promoting the economy and increasing income for the military and the government as a whole.
For example, the Construction Sector is divided into 10 Construction Zones across the country, which are;
- Eastern Region
- North East Region
- East Lake Region
- Central Region
- South Eastern Highlands Region
- Southern Region North West Region
- West Lake Region
- Southwestern Highlands Region
- Western Region
